- Ellen "Toots" Widener, 78, of Damascus, Va., passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. She was a life long resident of Damascus, Va. born on July 9, 1940, a daughter of Virginia Clementine Evans and the late William Keith Evans of Damascus, Va. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Allen Widener. She was known as a hard working farm girl where she grew up on her family farm in Damascuscus, Va. She also worked at and enjoyed her Food City, Abingdon, Va. family. She was everyone's mom and mamaw. Toots enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching westerns, and loved John Deere tractors. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her s son, William Allen Widener of Damascus, Va.; three grandchildren, Chasity Craft and her husband, Christian, of Richmond, Va., Danielle Drake and her husband, Nathan, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Jarryd Widener of Damascus, Va.; six grandchildren, Carter Craft, Cate Craft, Lauren Drake, Caroline Drake, Morgan Widener, and Jonathen Widener; two brothers, Eddie Evans and Bill Evans both of Damascus, Va.; three nieces, Marty Helton, Margie Evans, and Teresa Musser; and two nephews, Chris Evans and Mike Criddle.
