      Obituary:
      Emma Jean Mitchell, age 81, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

      Mrs. Mitchell was born November 14, 1933 in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

      She was a homemaker who loved doing whatever she could for her family. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

      Emma was a faithful Christian and a member of the Laurel Branch Baptist Church.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell Burton and Ruth Vowell Burton and by her husband, Authur Mitchell.

      Mrs. Mitchell is survived by 5 children, Danny Ray Mitchell and wife Sandra Faye, of Coalfield, Billy Joe Mitchell and wife Charlotte, of Oliver Springs, Jeannie "Susie" Mitchell of Oak Ridge, Diane Powell and husband Robert, of Coalfield and Connie Jean Culver and husband Glen, of Oak Ridge, by grandchildren; Danny Mitchell, Darrell Mitchell, Karen Sue Mitchell, Bobby Joe Mitchell, Troy Allen Mitchell, Charles Ray Mitchell, Kristy Dawn Carroll, David Lynn Carroll, Jr., Jessica Renee Godby and husband Ron, Courtney Danielle Culver, Megan Diane Culver and Erica Denise Culver, and by 7 great-grandchildren.

      She is also survived by 3 brothers, Kyle Burton of Lake City, Neil Burton of Lake City and Stevie Burton and wife, Mary of Wartburg, by 4 sisters; JoAnn Strong and husband Dean, of Andersonville, Gail Byrge and husband Everett, Brenda Braden and husband W.R., and Sheila Aslinger and husband Buddy, all of Briceville, by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

      The family will receive friends Friday, January 16, 2015, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Joey Cagley officiating. Burial and graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 1:00 pm, at Black Oak Cemetery in Clinton.
