- Betty Jane Widener Helton, age 76, of Jake Helton Place, Lenoir, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was born December 24, 1933 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Leonard Garfield Widener and Tiny Mae Hand Widener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, W.C. Bud Widener; and brother-in-law, Donald Ray Kirby.
Mrs. Helton was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd B. Helton of the home; children, William Boyd Junior? Helton and wife Judy, Kevin Helton and Nancy Crump, Lyn Helton and fiance Boyce Laxton, April Helton and Anita Helton Rose, all of Lenoir; grandchildren, Ryan Lingle, Katelyn Rose, Rylan Crump and Hailey Crump, all of Lenoir; brother, Leonard G. Widner and wife Jimmie Kaye of Lenoir; sister, Ella Mae Kirby of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Gaye Widener of St. Joe, Missouri; and numerous, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Chuck Byers and Rev. Sara Fouts. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Bill Kirby, Bill Helton, Ryan Lingle, Mike Brennan, Tim Hendrix, Brent Hartley, Tony Helton, Leonard George, Junior Starnes, Tres Widner, Clint Hamby and Michael Pennington.
